Bringing Hope to Nashville

On Saturday and Sunday, May 1 & 2, massive amounts of rainfall caused the river that snakes its way through Nashville to rise above the 100 year floodplain and flood-out all low-lying homes in the area. Flooding in homes ranged from a couple feet to almost 10 feet, depending on the elevation of the home. Most people evacuated and were able to return to their homes by Monday only to find most of their belongings soaked, covered with mud and ruined. Residents and volunteers began "gutting out" the houses as soon as possible and soon the curbs were filled with mountains of debris from the homes.flooding

Three people from The Chapel left on a first responder trip on May 5 with Mission USA Disaster Relief. The team arrived in Bellevue, a suburb of Nashville on the west side. For two and a half days, they fed hundreds of meals to victims/residents, volunteers and workers in a neighborhood called River Oaks Plantation.

Insurance companies are making assessments and it will be some time before we know how The Chapel and Mission USA can provide further rebuilding assistance.

What We Do

CCS works at increasing awareness of the ministries that are happening outside The Chapel.

CCS coordinates volunteers to serve in many different external areas.

CCS takes teams to areas of natural disasters to assist victims.

Contact the CCS Coordinators, Fred and Sandy Muffet, 330.315.5603.

We Need You!

The Chapel has most tools needed to do community service projects and now has coordinators in place to help volunteers locate worthwhile projects. We do, however, need you!

The list of ways to help is endless. The degree to which we are able to respond to those in need will be determined by the number of volunteers willing to give of their time.

Volunteers do a variety of projects from building and remodeling homes, to picking up litter, to baking cookies. Being a skilled worker is not vital, but a willingness to help is essential!

An e-newsletter informs of new projects as well as areas in which volunteers are already working. Subscribe.  You will receive an automated reply and, after you respond to that, you will receive the newsletter once a week (more often if special projects are happening).

Visit our CSS Web site which has a calendar of events and pictures.

Volunteering can be a one-time experience or ongoing. You can make it work! You are needed, whatever your skill. Ready to get in on the action and start serving? Send an email to Fred & Sandy Muffet.
